filipino food at tito rey's

last nite was my final ak sg outing...so we went out to dinner. in my group was j, n, k, m, and sl. i wanted to give the kids an ethnic experience, something that would be sort of fun, brand new, and an adventure. i gave them three choices: 1) african food where they eat with their hands (i think they were sorta intrigued by that), 2) hawaiian food (which all the other sgs ended up doing, and 3) filipino food (i had previously found a place for another dinner occasion). we decided to do filipino food, since we could do family style (plus it would be better if we did lunch for the new etritrean african place, since it's all you can eat then). so...off we went to tito rey's restaurant in daly city.

i had found this place on citysearch a while back while searching for filipino food. it seemed like it was authentic from the review. (maybe i just believe anything in print, that's what my mom used to say.) finding the place in a asian open square of different shops...we went in. it was sorta nice inside...but they had paper tablecloths. i think we were the only dinner customers besides a table of three others. amazingly empty for 7:45 on a friday nite. the place was pretty big too. it contains a fountain. has a room for private parties. a ballroom too. (might be a black and white grad nite for ak.) we heard music and thought that there might be a live singer, but it turned out to just be filipino karaoke. (we also heard a little english...some woman sang "somewhere over the rainbow"...twice.)

it was pretty funny how the waiter was trying to take our order...sl and me...along with 4 highschoolers. none of us really knew the names of any dishes. k didn't want seafood. j wanted adobe. we ended up going off some of the waiter's recommendations. (we took a picture with him later on.) we got the chicken and pork adobe (imo, okay) , fried chicken (served with ketchup, which seemed homemade), beef marinated in soy and onions (pretty good), eggplant omelette dish (good), and white rice. we were all pretty stuffed. we got dessert. j was hoping for babinko, or something sounding like that...but the only dessert they had was halo halo. i thought it was gonna be flambe, but it wasn't. it was a mix of shaved ice, ice cream, different sweet beans, corn, condensed milk, and some fruit. we mixed it all up together and it was great. reminded me of a similar taiwanese shaved ice dessert. it was a pretty memorable small group outing.

airport send-off

afterwards, i headed off to the sfo intl terminal to say so long to this summer's scbc thailand team. unfortunately it wasn't right for me to go back this year, but i helped a lot to kick off this year's team. a huge gang of about 40 lumps and friends were there to see them off. we prayed for them, chatted with them, and attempted to take a huge group photo at the gate. my camera didn't get the shot tho...so i'm really hoping that i can get a double from someone out there. i think it was a great send-off and a fantastic way for them to start their missions trip. i'm looking forward to hearing their e-mail updates to know how to pray for them and to hear about any funny adventures.

lumps video scavenger hunt II

lots of wacky, zany stuff for our second annual video scavenger hunt for lumps. jj, ek, and tmy put it together. i brought my buds cy and cl out and they were in my group. also in my group were the other cy, eric, and josie. some stuff we did...

* asked 5 tables at borders cafe if they were in the sf state film 101 study group.
* sang the mickey mouse song at the disney store while skipping.
* had make-up applied at nordstrom and had to talk to three people.
* sang (the smurf song) in an elevator with strangers.
* ask a stranger to make change of 25 pennies for a quarter.
* asked a safeway produce guy for permission to water the veggies...and did it.
* paid a gas station attendant $0.50 to fill-up, and then went back to ask for change. ($0.05)
* skipped in the mall singing the smurf song.
* got strangers to sing happy birthday with us
* asked a video store clerk (next to church) if he had any scary movies with which we could scare our 10 year old little brother.
* asked the gas attendant if they had super-duper unleaded gas for the fararri at home.
* howled at the moon in the middle of an intersection.
* asked in a sushi restaurant if they had the puffer fish, still with the poison in it.
* moved around like a robot in the middle of the mall while one person asked strangers if they wanted to meet mr. robotto.

we did a lot of crazy stuff. we were given too much time tho, so the whole nite ran too long. a lot of people left early without seeing all of the tapes, which was too bad. but overall the nite was great, b/c a lot of people bonding doing very memorable stuff. people will have a lot of interesting storeis to share.

camping in the portola redwoods

went on the june lumps camping trip this weekend. we went to the portola redwoods, which is in the south bay. as soon as i got there, i got bitten on my elbow! i never saw so many mosquitos in my life! we were right by a creek. i think there was a mosquito trapped in my tent at nite, and i awoke with several red bumps on my face that weren't acne! i really hate it when i get bitten by a knuckle joint on my finger. how the heck do mosquitos know where your joints are? i think i have a dozen bites...other than that...the camping trip was pretty mellow. we had the usual ky-planned camping grub: chicken and mashed potatoes dinner (this year m tried to be the super eater to polish off the leftover spuds), pancake and sausage breakfast, bag sandwich lunches, spaghetti dinner, and egg and ham for breakfast. i got to know some people better, like j, and got a chance to talk to some others that i havn't talked to in a while. oh yeah, sat we went hiking on the summit trail, and i didn't get lost/ditched this time. in fact for a while i was at the front of the pack with a, with the others following getting pooped out.

after returning early sun morning, i found out that my family had a family picnic down in palo alto. so i had to go back down to the south bay again. i didn't mind too much, since i didn't have to drive for the camping trip. :) i also got to read d's 100 bullets tpb's on the ride down and at the picnic. great crime noir comics.

birthday dessert

yesterday went to a bday thing for a at m's place. first time visiting her place. i got the tour. she calls her living room her "family room" and has anne of green gables on vhs subtitled in chinese. i and a few other lumps infiltrated the med-school crowd. got a chance to chat with most of them.

i talked with charles, who attends the local church here in sf. i've never talked with anyone going to that church before. from my days in berkeley, i knew it as a cult. he told me how the local church is more concilatory to other churches these days and is no longer so vocally critical of the other protestant church. i remember from cal that the local church is affiliated with "the students for the truth" and the "god-men." i wish i remembered how it was supposedly like a cult and the differences doctrinally. he told me that from being with the church, his personal walk had grown. interestingly, his parents are evangelical...so he sorta knows both sides of the coin. i had a good chance to chat with him, since we were waiting for over an hour for a.

earlier in the day i had some quality time kicking it with c and jq at costco. $1.50 polish sausage and soda. c and i hit up party city afterwards to get some balloons. a couple of the purple ones popped before making it to the party.

tuesday, june 19

okay...i'm gonna catch up now.

here's a collection of things i've been doing since coming back from la...

- 5.31. relived the 80's for my lumps sg wild card.
- 6.03. stopped by the union street art festival. (not my first time tho)
- 6.04. attended an ad school presentation by the attik.
- 6.05 went to the hip hop culture exhibit at the yerba buena galleries. very stimulating. history of dj's, b-boys (breaking or beat boys), mc's, grafitti, the clothes...the culture. heard a female spoken word hip hop poet. i might have fallen asleep (my random narcolepcy struck again), since i was pooped.
- 6.05 saw a preview screening of swordfish. great explosion in the beginning. so so plot. nothing radically new.
- 6.06 hung out with sl in the south bay. after trying some goat at a vietnamese place 3 blocks from the convention center, we went to the san jose museum of art. contemporary stuff by local artists. it was a free day.
- 6.07 had breakfast at washington sq bakery with my mom's bud denise. she's a producer at pdi/dreamworks...and gave me insights to the computer animation industry. also learned about how she found her way in life to her career.
- 6.07 denise told me about a maya launch presentation. i went in the afternoon. i think i fell asleep during the first part. it was very cool to learn about real viz and see their programs that work with maya, creating environments with 360 degree views, and computer models stitched together from a few photos. definitely an important tool to creating immersive interactive environments. lots of cheap applications for movies.
- 6.08 went to an art center presentation up here in pentagram, a famous design studio.
- 6.09 attended g & a's wedding in sj. went down with gl. dinner was at the mayflower in milpitas. nice wedding. a little simple. saw some old aacf buds. at dinner, mostly just talked to d & m about their upcoming wedding.
- 6.10 hosted the tibbetts at church. i introduced them in the late service for sharing. we had lunch too, vietnamese sandwiches. good and cheap.
- 6.11 went back to the hip hop class. danced to missy elliott. instructor said that i did pretty good.
- 6.12 caught a sneak peek of tomb raider. poor plot. poor character development. i thought one part ripped off the ending of indy and the last crusade. i couldn't tell what exactly was lara's view of alex...friend, foe, future love interest? action made the character come to life, but she wasn't empathetic at all. and what was the deal with the magic children?
- 6.13 started on my first freelance project, a brochure for ch's dad's small company. i gotta finish it still.
- 6.14 lunch with fy, a freelance illustrator who went to the academy years back. very helpful guy. i met him at o's party last sat. gave me a lot of good advice and can be a great connection.
- 6.15 ate with o at mom is cooking. jq had recommended this place and it's great, we shared an order of boquitos, tamales, and chicken mole.
- 6.15 bocce cafe on green with ak for black and white nite. i was a little cold outside. the sun tricked me.
- 6.16 hung out with pt, and went to a's church - cornerstone, in the mission. i wanted to go since a was leading worship and singing la rue's "like clay," the unofficial lumps theme song, which will be official once she introduces it. the song was great. afterwards we ate at crepes on cole and checked out o's housewarming.
- 6.17 between father's day meals, i went to cw's graduation from uop dental. she was the only graduate who had someone honk a bicycle horn for her. (me) =) i know that people like to hear people cheer for them, making them feel special. i didn't hear any other single noise-making device i usually see at cal...air horn, pots, pans, band instrument.
- 6.18 today. nothing. i stayed home. missed hip hop. very boring day....so that's about it. i know i did more stuff. i just can't remember.

the last of my la series...

Pasadena: day 6

i spent the morning going for a drive. went to a children's bookstore with original art called storyville. cool stuff. original art. sorta interested in children's illustration, since it suits my style...i also drove to westwood, but it was pretty dead by ucla, since school was done. i also tried to find the w, but no luck at all...so i finally drove to art center, got a bit lost when i was getting closer to the school, since my map in the la book wasn't detailed enough. after a few wrong turns, i did finally find the road leading up the hill to art center. i had imagined it bigger than it was. maybe cuz i went to cal, i imagined the school to be bigger and sprawling. it's actually just one huge building with different floors...exterior all black. i walked in and the first thing you see are the galleries of student work. pretty impressive stuff. especially the transportation design stuff. if i was really into cars, i'd definitely want to come here. they had cool 1:8 models of futuristic cars and motorcycles. all the other work was really cool too, but i realize how much more money probably goes into the trans design major. i met with the assistant chair of digital media, allison, and she told me about the grad program. i think i'd possibly be interested in that, with more experience under my belt. (maybe after the ad school.) i took the tour around the school, saw all the cool equipment, saw the labs, learned more about it's industry connections. i had to leave the tour early to have my admissions appointment. well, i was kept waiting for over 20 min (during which i coulda joined the tour), and actually had to see someone else that i had originally made the meeting with. it was someone higher up, but i was a little miffed that i had to wait all that time when i coulda been on the tour. sarah, the director of admissions, looked at my stuff...gave me input on how i can improve and what they look for. more process. early ideation. type with graphics. she liked the instructional styling cape, and told me to try to express more of that wise-guy ad guy humor and wit. after my appointment i hurried back to my car, which i had to return to rent a wreck. someone from the rental place drove me to burbank. at the airport, i ran into ak, from my thailand trip, and he offered to give me a ride home from sfo, since he was on the same flight. that was pretty cool.

overall...it was a really great trip to experience la. i wasn't overly wowed by the school, since i had heard so much before. it was an educational experience. i think i'll possibly apply for the spring, b/c i could then qualify for scholarships...but i'm first going to enroll in the ad school to give that a shot. either way...i'm thinking that i'll be living in somewhere else other than the bay area, come 6 mo from now.

the Getty, Westchester, Manhattan Beach: day 5

i'm just falling further and further behind! dadgummit.

i went to the getty by myself...possibly the most famous museum on the west coast. this is probably the most amazing museum i've ever been to. parking reservations are required to go (but i couldn't get any), fortunately i still had my art center at nite id...so i was able to get in as a student. you take a tram up to the top of a hill...which is purposely designed like an italian villa. the architecture is amazing and designed by frank ghery. there are four different building galleries each with two floors and multiple rooms. incredible art from all sorts of different european periods. nothing from asia tho. (my grandma had complained to them last time she went.) i spent about 5 hours at the getty. i managed to go thru all the galleries, walk thru the garden, and catch half of the architecture tour.

afterwards i met up with ml in westchester. she helped run the beijing english cultural center i worked at one summer. it was great catching up with her, meeting her husband k, learning new things about my summer in china, and the la entertainment intdustry. she's working on a screenplay for jason scott lee. it was great talking about life and have a creative pursuit. i was supposed to hang out the last time i almost went to la, and she had called up her industry friends. i could've hung out on movie lots. but my plans fell thru. oh well. this time we almost went to the W in westwood, which is supposedly the place to be seen and where a lot of pretty people are (altho they're all over la), but we ended up just going to manhattan beach, walking around, and getting dinner at Good Stuff, a healthy la chain. we stopped by the kettle to get k a piece of pie...this place is open 24 hours and is also part of the LA life. that's what i was looking to experience when i went down. i didn't wanna go anywhere that i could have in the bay area (like the cheesecake factory). we also stopped by the coffee bean (which is up in the bay area but i've never been to one), and i had a tea latte, which is really great. it could be my new favorite hot caffeinated drink.

L.A., Venice Beach, North Hollywood: day 4

jy made breakfast monday morning. eggs, some toast, and vegi-bacon. (she's not a carnivore.) the bacon sort of had the same texture as regular bacon, but was made out of tofu. i think. after crunching on the reddish-whitish fried strips, i realized that i like regular bacon better.

that morning i cracked open her phone book to figure out a car rental in la. (i wouldn't be able to rely solely on rides from friends.) aftter being rejected from hertz for being a few months shy of the minimum age, i called up rent-a-wreck. i had heard about them from frommers budget travel magazine. their ad said that they rented to people 21+. so i called em up found out that it would be about $22 a day and arranged to have the guy pick me up. when i got there, i check out the cars. all of them had been in accidents, but looked like they were in driveable condition. they were all american cars (i think). some were missing radios and had chunks missing from the dash, steering wheel or seats. small dents were pretty common. i finally settled on one that looked to be in best condition, and had a good digital radio. it was a green ford escort station wagon. it was the biggest car, but probably the best car. i later found out that it had working air conditioning (which is a rarity among the wrecks!).

after making my way to jy's, i set out to meet up with cl near hancock park. cl is a friend of a friend of a friend and an art center alumni who i met a couple of years ago. we met up for lunch and to talk about art center and industry stuff. after driving to farmer's market (where a really rude old guy stole our parking space) and finding that the place was pretty empty cuz of the holiday, we eventually went to pink's. it's an LA landmark and probably the most famous hot dog place in the country. we had to stand and wait in line outside of the stand for 30 minutes, which is supposedly the average wait time at any time of day. i had one of the famous chili cheese dogs. i also had some sort of lemon-lime soda called "bubble up." i probably should have saved the glass bottle.

after hanging with cl, i had some time to kill before meeting up with my uncle. so i drove (a long way) to venice beach. it was pretty nice to walk along the boardwalk and the beach. i got an italian ice at R and R's Pacific Phreeze on windward ave. great stuff in the warm weather. i think it was a new place. i walked along the strip, strolling past several henna, clothes, and trinkets booths. nothing too much was going on in muscle beach. there were some pretty cool street manniquinns. one thing i really enjoyed was seeing the dancing skaters grooving to a dj mixing. some guys were really good. (i should check out the sunday scene in gg park sometime.) i also hiked over to check out the chiat day building, designed by frank ghery. it looks like it has a giant set of binoculars for an entrance.

i drove back north to meet my uncle k at his really phat house in north hollywood. one of the most amazing houses i've been in. (his past house was also pretty dang amazing.) big outdoor patio view of all of la. you can even see the ocean on a clear day. he's a very accomplished photographer who is a self-made man and artist, self-taught while in med-school. he's always given me great advice and creative inspiration a few times over the years. after hanging at his house, we drove in his porsche (i think) to the mandarete for dinner. i chatted with him about my career growth options and i learned a few things from him...

- design forward. surround yourself with art which is modern and forward thinking, not with what you're comfortable with. he shared with me how he keeps himself creatively fresh to avoid having his style static and stale. he also goes to a museum at least once a week.

- create an image, not just a photograph. the art of photography today (particularly related to graphic design) is much more about creating an image, compositing and manipulating it in post-production with digital tools.

- be disciplined. he's probably the most disciplined guy i know. it all started in college, continued on to med school, and extends into all aspects of his life and career. if he puts it to mind that he'll spend 20 hours giving himself assignments to learn a new program, he'll always follow thru. (i sure could have done that, but my lazy butt got in the way.)

- immerse yourself in art.

- create art in different mediums. he does his own interior design, painting, sketching, and will soon do sculpture. definitely crucial to his continual growth and development as an artist.

- look at art intensely from different perspectives. he only visits a museum for two hours, b/c it's so draining.

- challenge your instructors to teach you (especially if the program is not top notch). don't put up with $hit. i know i'll be having to do this if i go to another institution other than art center and if i want an intense art center like learning experience.

i think he showed me a lot about the potential there can be if i choose an art school path of which i'm not totally convinced on the institutional quality. it makes me more certain that the ad school path can be right for me, particularly if i'm driven and convinced of the goal and type of artist i want to become. as always, it's been extremely stimulating talking to uncle k, and he's the only family person (or any person for that matter) that can give me this type of advice. he told me about his past secretary who took a single fashion illustration class and is now the head designer for sketchers. she'll soon be coming out with her own line of shoes.

he's continuing to push himself into different fields, now potentially breaking into men's fashion photography and putting together a shoe book for this la boot repair guy. he's inspired many people who come in contact with him. his former assistant todd is now trying to make it in a boy band, and thanked him in his band's cd as the greatest inspiration and mentor of his life. i'm definitely blessed to be related to someone like this.

Rosemead, Pasadena, Studio City, Santa Monica: day 3

ap and i decided to go to evergreen la in rosemead. it's one of the big churches in la, and we've heard a lot about it. i was there a few years back for a visit. well we got there and i bumped into a bunch of people that i knew. dt, originally from sunset and now going to school in irvine, was visiting for the first time ever. j, t, v, g, and dh were also down for the weekend from sunset/lumps also and visited for church also (but i knew that they were gonna be there). i ran into s and p from my days at cal aacf, and they were visiting also... i had forgotted p's name. j helped me out and asked her name while introducing herself when we were taking a lumps photo. i also saw a few other people i knew too...i didn't get too much out of the sermon. the assistant pastor dave spoke. he was finishing up the book of ruth. instead of concentrating completely on that story, he hopped also to jacob and his family, which pretty much weakened his cohesive narrative. both of these stories weren't completely finished or developed. he also gave a synopsis of the voyager season finale, pretty much spoiling it for me. i had taped it a few days ago and didn't get a chance to finish watching it. i hate it when speakers do that. some of them do it for movies also. worship was good at evergreen la. i think next time i'm down, i'm going to try to visit evergreen san gabriel valley (the sister church, which had split off a few years ago).

we went to lunch with the lumps bunch in old town pasadena. nice strip of shopping and restaurants. we ended up eating at crocodile cafe. so cal chain of restaurants serving californian food. i had a great steak salad, with fried onions. we discovered that there was also a franchise in san jose. i'd go visit that sometime. afterwards we checked out some of the shops. i saw these pretty cool leather puma shoes. didn't buy em. maybe i'll get them if i find them again. i also found a movie postcard shop and got a bunch of bruce lee postcards for my cuz k. i thought it would be helpful for his school project no bruce lee (but it turns out he finished his project a while back).

ap and i then went to meet up with jy, a fellowship friend from cal. we used to serve together doing equipping for aacf. we used to cook for each other. it was cool to be able to have a little reunion all together. she's a lawyer now, living in studio city. i stayed at her house, which is really nice. she put me up in a guest room where i had my own bathroom. but anyways, after stopping by her place, she took us to get dinner in santa monica (which i had wanted to visit). she took us to fritto misto, a neighborhood italian cafe restaurant. moderately priced, simple ambiance, great portions, good food. i'd definitely go back. they had vegetarian specials for jy to eat. it got pretty crowded after we ate.

afterwards we went to the santa monica 3rd street promenade. i had always heard about it and la people were telling me to check it out. a row of nice shops and restaurants. very busy, lots of people. street performers on every street attracting crowds. they were pretty impressive and talented. more than just the guys you'd see in downtown sf. some of the same shops i had seen at old town...e.g. j.crew and bananna. we walked down to the pier which has rides and a ferris wheel. (i need to go on a ferris wheel one day.) we then caught a 10:30 showing of pearl harbor. i didn't think that the movie was too bad, and that it's worth watching. i did think that it was a little long tho. i had a feeling that the love story was going to end that way tho. nothing too surprising... it was interesting watching people leave the theater. no one was smiling. everyone was pretty quiet. all the couples were holding each other....in line there were some japanese people waiting in front and in back of us. i'm curious what they thought about the movie and if they felt any weird vibe afterwards.

Torrance and Monterey Park: day 2

sat in la, i was mostly with ap and his family. we went to lunch at 828 in monterey park (which had a cleanliness rating of B), then went shopping. visited the del amo mall. it used to be the largest, flattest mall in the us, before the mall of america came into existence.

at nite we had dinner with 2 other relative families in torrance. they do it weekly. i got a chance to practice the few bits of mandarin i knew at the dinner table. it reminded me of being back in beijing (not b/c ap visited me) his cousins and i saw "what women want" on dvd. i thought that it was sorta odd that they had the closed caption titling on the whole time, but i didn't wanna suggest them to turn it off. especially since they restarted the movie after halfway thru it, so that i could see it from the beginning. i was the only one out of 8 or so people that never saw it. afterwards, i played scotland yard with ap and his cousins. i was mr. x and won, using mostly taxis. =)

the LA Life: day 1

i finally have time to catch up about my adventures in la...

last week on friday i went down to la for 5 days. primarily to check out art center, but then also to visit a bunch of friends. i hadn't been to la since 97, so it's been a while. i hitched a ride down with my cal bud ap. i had to meet him in berkeley to caravan with j and t, a couple of berkeley folk. on my way to the dwight building, i noticed a breadoutlet on san pablo and stopped off there to get some breakfast. they made "vital vittles" bread, which is sold in places like andronico's and trader vic's. very healthy. very dense and heavy. i got a couple of day-old loafs for a couple of bucks.

we caravaned down 5. we stopped off at anderson's pea soup in santa nella, which i've visited a few times before for rest stops but nev er to eat. i had the lamb stew and the pea soup which was cool. it seems that the owners are christian, since i noticed some left behind books and devotionals in the book store. along our trip, i got a chance to get to know j and t as well as drive ap's car. we swapped off drivers and riders, to break the monotany of a continuous shotgun. it was cool driving. never drove down myself before. it was a good warm up to drive on the so cal freeways, since i would have to rent a car later on in my trip.

well, ap and i made it down ok. we didn't have anything planned fri nite, so we thought that we might check out evergreen's young adult group friday nite, if they did have one that is and if we could find out info on it. after a few failed attempts calling people with no info. i called cc up here in sf, and he called around to some of his friends. he passed along the word that yes, evergreen la did have a young adult group (w.o.w. - walking on water), and that it started about 30 min ago. well, we got directions anyways and thought what the heck, we don't have any other plans. we got a little lost getting there, and i was starting to think maybe we should give up, but ap still wanted to go...which turned out to be good. we got there (now about an hour late), wandered thru the church, and found a girl named michelle who helped us out to try to track down the group. it actually turned out that tonite was an outing nite for the group, and they had just taken off!

well, michelle called one of the guys to find out where they went, and they were heading towards downtown disney in anaheim (from rosemead), but they were willing to turn around to get ap and me. so one car came back and hooked up with us, giving us directions and carvaning over. that was really nice of them. they could have easily just tried to give us directions on the phone (which would have gotten us very lost). by the time we finally got to the place, it was 10pm. we ate at the espn zone restaurant, which was very cool. they have tv screens everywhere, even on top of the urinals so that sports fans won't miss any of the action. i took a picture of ap enjoying one of those screens. :) downtown disney was cool. lots of themed restaurants (like rainforest cafe) and shops.

hanging out with the WOW group was interesting. they are a little older and some of the guys dress a little funny. (one guy wore a palm pilot on one side of his belt, and a cell phone on the direct other side.) there were mostly guys and a few girls. altho they were different than me, it was great to chat with them, learn about evergreen, their young adult group, and life in la. it gave me some perspective on my church and life in the bay area. i definitely felt very blessed how god provided and brought us to meet up with them, as well as other things like providing a ride down, housing in la, and a great church home and fellowship group in sf.

we finally got to ap's home afterwards at about 1:30 or so. we were pretty beat. we had to walk around the downtown disney parking lot a lot crossing back and forth twice, b/c we couldn't figure out where we parked! ap's parents gave me a bed and i had a good nite's sleep.
